Farewell Gift

Video Message for John Floyd

As John prepares to leave Bruern Abbey, we would love to gather short video messages from former and current boys, parents, family members, and past and present teachers as a truly personal farewell gift.

Your message might be a fond memory, a heartfelt thank you, or simply a few words about where life has taken you since your time at Bruern. Keep it short and from the heart — that’s all that’s needed.

Fancy dress or an interesting location are very much welcomed, in true Bruern spirit.

To submit your message, simply:

1. RECORD YOUR VIDEO IN LANDSCAPE ORIENTATION (HORIZONTAL), IDEALLY NO LONGER THAN 2 MINUTES.

2. Enter your details and select your sharing preference — private to John or shared with the Bruern community.

3. Click Upload and select your file.

4. Click Submit.

We are certain that your words will mean the world to John. Thank you for taking the time to be part of this.

Please note: When submitting, you can choose whether your message is shared with the wider Bruern community or kept entirely private and seen by John alone. Both options are equally valued. Videos that have been given permission to be shared will be compiled and edited into a short film to be shown to the school.

This is a surprise — so please do keep it to yourselves (we can but try!).
The finished video will be presented to John as a surprise at Prize Giving, making it all the more special.

Upload your farewell video

Upload your farewell video to John here. Share heartfelt memories, thanks or best wishes in a short clip – your message will make his surprise tribute even more special!

To donate to John’s leaving gift

Many parents have asked how they might contribute to a collective gift for John from the whole parent body — both current and alumni parents. If you would like to donate, please use this link.

To protect everyone’s privacy, both video folders will be password protected. Private videos will be accessible to John alone. Videos where permission has been given to share will be accessible to the wider Bruern community of families and teachers only. Once all messages have been received, we will share the relevant password with you directly.
